COUNTRY OVERVIEW

Sport for Development (S4D) strengthens the capacities of governmental and non-governmental organisations, as well as regional and national stakeholders, to foster youth development and social cohesion in the Western Balkans.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the S4D Youth Ambassadors Programme is actively engaged in initiatives that promote youth employability, strengthen soft skills, and advance gender equality through sport.

S4D also plays a key role in fostering regional cooperation and reconciliation. In collaboration with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the programme supports regional activities and capacity development initiatives that bring together both young people and professionals. These initiatives promote dialogue, personal growth, and social inclusion, helping bridge gaps between diverse communities across the region.

Through these ongoing efforts, S4D continues to empower young people, strengthen local communities, and promote a culture of cooperation, inclusion, and equality in the Western Balkans.

If you want to have more detailed and/or further information about S4D in the country, please have a look at the following publications.

The local sport for development nets (L-S4D-Nets) approach in the Western Balkan region is described in an interactive roadmap. The aim of this publication is to present the approach and to capture the main learnings. The roadmap also serves as a practical and hands on working aid that supports other sport for development programmes in shaping their own local networking activities.
