Although Mexico has made significant progress in expanding educational and employment opportunities, many young people, particularly women in technical and industrial careers, still face challenges in accessing quality training and job prospects. To address this, GIZ supported the expansion and consolidation of the Dual Education System (SED III) in collaboration with Mexican public and private sector partners. The initiative aimed to increase the number of young people and companies benefiting from dual education while promoting gender equity.
As part of this effort, GIZ also integrated sport into vocational training through the Deporte para el Desarrollo (DpD) programme, which helped young women develop key social and professional skills. Working alongside the Academia Borussia, the programme provided football-based training to strengthen self-confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills, preparing students for the job market and encouraging their participation in technical and industrial fields.
