Strengthening regional ties: S4D workshop connects Tunisia, Morocco, and Senegal

Last autumn, S4D coaches and instructors from Tunisia, Morocco, and Senegal came together in Tunis for the very first time to share best practices, discuss common challenges, and explore ways to collaborate regionally in the future. The event, held from October 15 to 17, 2024, was organised in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Tunisian Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. It focused on empowering youth through sport, with a strong emphasis on promoting employability and gender equality across the three countries.

S4D offers powerful opportunities to promote inclusion and challenge stereotypes, particularly for marginalised youth. One way to dive deeper into the topic was to visit the Raoued Pilot Centre, which uses the S4D approach in its activities. The workshop participants explored the centre’s activities and engaged with the young people at the centre, learning first-hand about the impact of Sport for Development.

Learning from each other’s experiences in different contexts was especially valuable for this goal – an effect that can be deepened further by continuing to exchange with other practitioners through the Global S4D Community platform. This workshop was a meaningful step toward building stronger regional cooperation and thus realising the full potential of Sport for Development.
